The Dark Paladins were a Space Marine Chapter that was destroyed in battle with unknown Xenos.[1]

Background

In M41 the Dark Paladins' fleet traveled to the Imperium Industrial World Jarrman Primus, to investigate the sudden loss of all communications with the world. It was not long after the Chapter's first Thunderhawk set down on Jarrman Primus though, that they came under attack from mechanical xenos. After hearing how the xenos were not able to be killed, the Dark Paladins' Chapter Master decided to deploy the entire Chapter to combat the threat and within an hour the entire might of the Dark Paladins descended upon Jarrman Primus. However, shortly after they were deployed, the Chapter's reports to its fleet started to sound confused and later desperate. From what the Imperium has been able to gather from the Chapter's last scrambled reports, the Dark Paladins fought a valiant battle against the xenos, and destroyed many of the undying monstrosities, before the Space Marines were finally overwhelmed and completely destroyed.[1]

Most worryingly, the final garbled report from the Dark Paladins' Chapter Master stated that, even as the battle raged around them, the Chapter's Techmarines simply stood rigid and stared in awe at the mechanical xenos, even as their Battle Brothers died. Even the Dark Paladins' fleet was destroyed and the Imperium was later able to gather pict-views taken from the wreckage above Jarrman Primus, that showed the fleet was easily taken apart by black bladed xenos ships. Though the Dark Paladins are no more, their reports about the Xenos they fought and the threat they represent have filled many secret councils in the Imperium with cold silence and furious debate in equal measure.[1]
