Heavy bolter

The heavy bolter is a Bolt Weapon and fires a round considerably larger than that of the bolter, with a much higher rate of fire. The heavy bolter is capable of being held and fired by one Space Marine or Sister of Battle, but requires a 2 man team of Imperial Guard Guardsmen to carry it. It is also found, commonly, on vehicles employed by the Imperium. Due to the increased velocity of the weapon, the bolt travels further with greater force, allowing it to be used against better armoured foes than the standard Bolter. The current version in use is the Astartes Mk IVc.
The heavy bolter goes through rounds very quickly using either a powered feed or high capacity box magazine. It can be fitted with Hellfire Rounds, that launch thousands of needles with mutagenic acid on impact, which are especially effective against Tyranids.1
