Hekhtur Cerberan

Sir Hekhtur Cerberan is a renowned Freeblade Knight.

History

Cerberan was a Knight of House Cerberan, until sometime after the Great Rift's creation when his Homeworld Randoryn Alpha, was invaded by the Iron Warriors forces of the Warsmith Ghanshor[1a]. Despite their best efforts his Household was overwhelmed, until only Hekhtur and a few other Knights remained. The Knights then decided to make their last stand in front of their fortress Stygian Keep, but the Warsmith would not be denied Randoryn Alpha and their Knight suits were disabled by invasive electrogheists. With their defeat, Ghanshor now held Randoryn Alpha in his grasp and the captured Nobles began to be tortuously reconditioned. The process began to break the spirits of the Nobles and allowed them to easily embrace the worship of Chaos and corrupted their Knights into heretical engines of destruction. Soon only Hekhtur remained uncorrupted and he held onto his loyalty to the Emperor, no matter what was inflicted upon him.[1b]

His deliverance later arrived though, when his Knight Preceptor Canis Rex activated on its own and freed the Noble. Now the last loyal Knight of House Cerberan, Hekhtur took the oath of the Freeblade and led the Randorynian resistance, fighting back against the heretics wherever he could. He managed to free many enslaved serfs and then ferried them off-world to safety, earning his Freeblade epithet, The Chainbreaker. Eventually though, even the grimly determined Hekhtur was forced to accept that the fight for Randoryn Alpha was lost. Rather than throw his life away, Hekhtur took Canis Rex and the small complement of loyal Sacristans he had managed to save, and stole an Imperial frigate to escape his doomed Homeworld. He now searches for a war that he can win for the Imperium and has voyaged the stars ever since; freeing Imperial citizens enslaved by foul oppressors and punishing the scions of Chaos with vehemence and fury[1b]. His successful efforts have been noticed by the Imperium and has made Hekhtur Cerberan, a well regarded Imperial hero and a source of inspiration.[2]
