Lord Admiral

Lord Admiral is a rank in the Imperial Navy. It seems to be a Higher-ranking Admiral, probably in command of a form of Fleet, maybe a Strike Force or Tactical Battle Force.

Solar Admiral¹ appears to be a rank within the Imperial Navy, Ranking above a normal Admiral.

Fleet Admiral

Fleet Admiral, or Fleet-Admiral¹ ranks above a normal Admiral, and also possibly applies that the "Fleet Admiral" commands a fleet, or form of fleet.

Admiral

In the Imperial Navy the rank of Admirals implies that the bearer has command of a small task force or possibly a small Fleet. The use of Admiral is used to Address officers with the rank. There also seems to be other types of Admirals such as Rear Admiral.

• Parol - Admiral Parol is the Commander of the Imperial Navy Fleet in the Armageddon Sector.
• Kaminska - Rear Admiral, Took part in the Battle of Macragge, was killed when Word Bearers destroyed her flagship the Wrathful.

Captain

In the Imperial Navy the rank of captain implies that the bearer has command of a ship. On board his ship, his word is law, above that of any other, save the Emperor's own. An Imperial Navy captain receives orders from a Rear Admiral. He would then interpret these orders, and have them carried out by delegating tasks to his 1st Lieutenants.
