Inquisitor Kalypsia was in charge of the Deathwatch kill-team during the Herodian IV Tyranid incident to eliminate the Hive Tyrant: during the first drop 2 members of her team were killed in a Lictor ambush and a third was killed by Zoanthropes. Having escaped that fate, she interviewed an Adeptus Mechanicus survivor from the planet and supposedly killed him after discovering the existence of a secret weapon.

Her team was reinforced with marines from the Mantis Warriors Chapter who had tried to stop the Tyranids but failed and took heavy losses as result. She went with them in drop-pods which she managed to survive due to a modified harness. Fighting their way into a compound where the Mantis warriors had made their stand, assault Sergeant Soron got separated and taken by Gargoyles but detonated a Plasma grenade that killed himself and his attackers. Once inside the compound they were ambushed by Raveners but Devastator Sergeant Ruinis held them off before unleashing Frag grenades that killed the Raveners and himself.

Her team discovered and retrieved the weapon which turned out to be a mix of Imperial, Eldar and Tyranid tech with Inquisitor Grendal fused to it. On the way to extraction, Librarian Shaiden and Chaplain Broec stayed behind to kill the Hive Tyrant, supposedly dying in the process. They succeeded and the swarm was confused long enough for rest to be extracted from the surface. Kalypsia was knocked out when she examined the machine back in the Thunderhawk: it turned out Grendal was possessed by the machine and try to kill her but died instantly when he left the chair since it was the only thing keeping him alive. When no one was around she attached herself to the machine which had the same effect on her. The Captain of the team, Octavius, opened the bay airlock and threw a plasma grenade onto the possessed Kalypsia's lap before she got sucked out; she and the machine were destroyed in the plasma blast.
