History
The Legio Oberon was created during the Great Crusade on the recently founded Forge World of Anvari as an attempt by its thrall-master Accatran to secure their power in the realm of Ultramar. It was created via donations of a fragment of Titans from the Legio Destructor. In honor of this agreement, both swore to protect the other. In accordance with Accatran's desire to forge relations with the Ultramarines, the Legio Oberon was often given to the forces of Roboute Guilliman during the remainder of the Crusade. Their time with the Ultramarines ultimately proved to temper their previously warlike nature while also enhancing the tactical abilities of its Princeps.[5]
The naming of the Legio Oberon proved contentious when Mars learned of its existence over a decade after its founding, for the title of Death Bolts already had been given to the Legio Honorum. Following much contemplation, it was agreed the Legio Oberon would take the title of Death Bolts II, while the Legio Honorum became known as Death Bolts I.[5]
During the Horus Heresy, the Legion remained loyal to the Emperor but suffered little under the Word Bearers surprise attack at Calth for not much their strength had arrived by the time the battle began.[5] This became a badge of shame for the Legion, who saw their failure to arrive in time as a violation of their own oaths. Subsequently, they fought alongside the Ultramarines in their battle against the World Eaters and Word Bearers on Nuceria.[1] They also fought alongside the Legio Praesagius during the Crusade of Iron.[4a][5]
In the Plague Wars, the Legio Oberon again fought alongside the Ultramarines, this time against the forces of Nurgle.[2] On Parmenio, the God Machines of the Legion Oberon fight alongside titans from the Legios Fortis and Atarus.[6]

Trivia
Conflicting sources
- There are conflicting sources regarding the heraldry of the Legio Oberon. Images from Adeptus Titanicus: Shadow and Iron portray the Titans in black and orange.[4b] However, in the novel Dark Imperium: Plague War, the Legio's heraldry is stated to be "white and sable."[6] Given that the events depicted in the sources took place some 10,000 years apart, it is possible that the Legio Oberon changed its heraldry at some point in the intervening millennia, but this is not confirmed.
