The Leman Russ Vanquisher is a rare and specialised variant of the Leman Russ Battle Tank used by the Imperial Guard. It has a significantly more powerful cannon, with a longer barrel and the ability to fire anti-tank Vanquisher rounds, called the Vanquisher Cannon. These are extremely effective at penetrating armour even at great ranges.

History
The Vanquisher was mainly built on the Forge World Tigrus until it was overrun by the Ork Warlord Arrgard the Defiler in M35. Since then the numbers of Vanquishers have been dropping and no one can replace them easily. Only two current Forge Worlds have succeeded in replacing the Vanquisher with their own design, Gryphonne IV(Who was turned into a Dead World by Hive Fleet Leviathan) and Stygies VIII.
The 41st Millennium
The Vanquisher is beginning to make a comeback among Imperial forces. The good accuracy, long range and high ratio of first-hit kill makes it a choice anti-tank weapon by many Imperial commanders. Such is the power of the gun and the ammunition it uses, there is no known armour which cannot be penetrated by a Vanquisher, including that of Titans
Forge World Variations
- Stygies VIII - Smaller calibre shell with no rifling, also better gun stabilising and recoil dampning, although only the accuracy of the first shot is improved due to the smoothboring and high speeds but does not aid later shots
- Gryphonne IV - huge length of barrel for shell velocity
