The Marauder Destroyer is similar in design to the Marauder but modified for low, night flights during the Second War for Armageddon when Ork dominance in the skies forced them to use new tactics. They also have a heavier payload.

History
The first recorded use of the Marauder Destroyer was during the Second War for Armageddon when Ork control of the skies forced the remaining aircraft to be refitted for night operations where they could fly at low levels to avoid detection. With the new tactics came a new payload.
In the 41st Millennium
The Marauder Destroyer has been used primarily as a low level attack craft. It has had its bomb capacity reduced in favour of more direct fire weaponry such as Autocannons. It has been designed to fly at 1500kph at a height of 100m, allowing it to be practically impossible to hit. It is so heavily armed that it can easily fight its way in, destroy the target and fight its way out again.
It is the weapon of choice for ground support missions and the sounds of its engines so low is a great boost to allied morale.

Armaments and Upgrades
The Marauder Destroyer is armed with 3x twin-linked Autocannons, twin-linked Heavy Bolters and twin-linked Assault Cannons. It may be upgraded with 6x Bombs and up to 8x Hellstrike Missiles. It may also be upgraded with an Ejector Seat, Flare or Chaff Launcher, Armoured Cockpit, Infra-red Targeting, Illum Flares and Distinctive Paint Scheme or Decals.
