Marcellus was a Captain in the Ultramarines Legion during the Great Crusade, who had numerous citations for valour. However, he later fell in battle during the First Portresh Compliance, when recidivist forces unleashed a bio-psionic weapon, which forced Marcellus to be interred within a Contemptor Dreadnought. Afterwards, he served in the Ultramarines' 117th Company and by the time the Battle for Calth began, he was known as Ancient Marcellus. During the battle against the Word Bearers Legion, Marcellus fought in Ithraca City's Macro-Gamma landing zone, where he killed numerous members of the traitorous Calaq War Host Imperial Army Regiment, before the City was invaded by Daemons. It is known that all the Loyalists in Ithraca City fell to the Daemons and though Marcellus' remains were never found, his name was added to the Roll of Honour for the many thousands who fell during the Battle of Calth.[1]
