History
It was once invaded by a Chaos cult which removed the eyes of its victims as they were seen as windows into the soul.[4]
Inquisitor Eisenhorn had his Distaff organization headquartered on Messina. However, circa 396.M41, they were essentially wiped out in an attack by Vessorine Janissaries[2a] mercenary bands[2c], hired by the Heretic Pontius Glaw.[2b]

Trivia
Conflicting sources
- In Codex: Eye of Terror (3rd Edition), Messina is stated to lie in the Thracian Primaris System.[1] However, in the map of the Scarus Sector given in Ravenor (Novel), Messina is labelled distinctly from, and quite a long way away from, Thracian Primaris[3], which is the main world of the Thracian Primaris System.[1]
