Penitent

Penitents, also known as bound psykers, penitent witches and pariahs, are rogue psykers that has been captured by an Inquisitor, and subsequently has confessed to his or her crimes. Doing so allows the psyker to escape execution, and obligates him to a lifetime of atonement. Only those who are deemed truly repentant can recieve this deal. The psyker is then bound with wards and anointed with sacred oils. This process prevents the psyker from using its power in the normal manner, but instead turns it into a "psychic lightning rod," absorbing and disapating the powers of other psykers. This serves as a powerful protection for any Inquisitor fortunate enough to have a penitent in his or her retinue. Unfortunately, it is rare to find a rogue psyker truly repentant for his crimes, but to do so is a high aspiration and goal for many Inquisitors of the Ordo Hereticus.
