Reclaimers
|
The Reclaimers are a Space Marine Chapter.[4a]
Overview
Similar to the Iron Hands, the Reclaimers have unusually close ties to the Adeptus Mechanicus, and this association is reflected in several aspects of their Chapter: their Techmarines occupy places of unusual prestige, their Apothecaries are exceptionally skilled in grafting augmetic replacements, and their Power Armour is among the most finely crafted of all Space Marines'.[4b]
Moreover, their respect for the Mechanicus borders on a certain amount of reverence, but whether the God-Machine is the main focus of their faith or is seen merely as an aspect of their Primarch or the Emperor Himself, only the Reclaimers themselves know. The Ordo Hereticus may be already aware of this, but even if it is true, for now it seems they have decided to observe and not take any action yet.[6b]
The Reclaimers also frequently partner with the Mechanicus in searching out archeotech and new sources of knowledge, often to the point where these considerations outweigh other military factors. For instance, the Reclaimers insisted on boarding the space hulk Spawn of Damnation as it was en route to the Serendipita system, overruling the planet's PDF commanders who wanted to blast the hulk into oblivion before it became a threat.[Needs Citation]
Notable Engagements
- A company of the Reclaimers under the command of Captain Gries investigated a Necron tomb and was placing demolition charges when Commissar Ciaphas Cain unexpectedly burst from a Dolmen Gate, having narrowly escaped another Tomb on Interitus Prime.[2]
- This same company then assisted in clearing away a genestealer infestation on Viridia, and then pursuing the space hulk Spawn of Damnation through the warp.[4c]
- Two companies from the Reclaimers, along with two from the Swords of the Emperor fought against Tyranids on Corania, turning the tide after nearly a year of fighting by Imperial Guard regiments.[1]
- 13th Black Crusade — Sent 4 Companies to Cadia.[5]
Heraldry
The Space Marines of the Reclaimers wear off-white power armour with yellow gauntlets and faceplates.[4b] Captain Gries wore a helmet with a gold faceplate topped with a black and green crest, but it is not known if this is typical for commanding officers of the chapter, or personal embellishment specific to Gries.[4b]
The Reclaimers have a relatively large number of the ancient Corvus-pattern (beak-nosed) helmets, compared to other Chapters and used to designate warriors who have proven themselves especially honourably on the battlefields.[6a]
