Roxanzand is a planet of the Roxanzand System, located in the Chelio Sector.[1]

History

In 718924.M40, a routine Imperial survey of the Roxanzand System detected a large mustering of Orks on Roxanzand's northern continent. The Orks had gathered under the leadership of a Warlord known as Urgak the Unstoppable, and had set up a number of workshops constructing vehicles and weapons - including a Gargant. It was feared by Imperial tacticians that, if left unchecked, the Orks of Roxanzand could be in position to launch a Waaagh! led by Urgak. Unfortunately, a full-scale Imperial response was not possible at that time, so the Officio Assassinorum was tasked with dealing with the threat.[1]

Soon after, the Vindicare Assassin Morias Skult arrived in-system. Deploying to the surface of Roxanzand via drop pod, Skult infiltrated the Orks' camp under cover of darkness and rigged the Gargant with explosives, before retreating to a vantage point. The next day, as Urgak was conducting an inspection of the Gargant, Skult shot the Warlord through the head with a hyphosphus-tipped bullet, killing it. The bullet then continued, its intense heat detonating the explosives, severely damaging the Gargant and the camp and killing hundreds of Orks.[1]

Following this, Skult successfully disengaged from the system. The Officio Assassinorum did not consider the mission's outcome as a total success, as many of the workshops remained active, but it was enough to blunt the Orks' military buildup. The Imperial Navy later sent a vessel to bombard the site from orbit to finish the job.[1]

Trivia

The name of the planet is a simple pun on "rocks and sand" (perhaps indicating it was named by a bored Explorator, in a similar fashion to the Sodallagain system).
