Tartarus is a planet besieged by Orks and at one point involved five different forces on the planet: they were Orks, Imperial Guard, Chaos Space Marines of the Alpha Legion, Eldar of the Biel Tan Craftworld and Space Marines of the Blood Ravens Chapter.

Terrain and climate

The planet was made up of several well-populated cities in vast forests of green trees. There is also a river. All the water had been pumped out of a flood valley so that the planets capital city- Lloovre Marr. Later on, when the Blood Ravens Space Marines arrive they notice that the land around Lloovre Marr has been saturated with blood and has turned into a bog because of all the moisture.

History

Unknown until the very end of the campaign as Tartarus, the Blood Ravens Space Marines find out that there had been a very early human colony on Tartarus since the Great Crusade but when a cyclic Daemon Prince that emerges out of the Warp every three thousand years appeared it seduced the whole population and turned them into Chaos Cultists. Eldar of the Biel Tan Craftworld arrive to stop the threat, the army is lead by the Farseer Macha, it was her duty to defeat and tra the daemon on Tartarus every 3000 years. The Guardians of Storm Squad have the task of holding back the cultists and Bloodletter daemons while the Biel Tan Avatar of Khain fights the Daemon Prince and Macha holds the warp storm at bay. The Eldar succeed but only at the cost of their Avatar.

At the same time a small group of Deathwatch Space Marines and an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor called Jhordine are tasked with finding the Avatar's weapon the Wailing Doom, when the weapon is shattered, Trythos, a Blood Ravens Captain snatches up a shard and the team escape. All records of this event were expunged by the Inquisition and when peole colonised the planet 300 years later it was treated like a new planet. Macha trapped the Daemon in a stone called the Maledictum and also hid a series of clues so that the stone didnt fall into the wrong hands.

Over the hundreds of years the new colony on Tartarus fended for themselves. They forced off many ivasions by Orks and pirates but in the run-up to 999.M41 the Maledictum had began to inluence the population again and many Imperial Guardsmen of the Tartarus Planetary Defence Force kept running away from battles.

It was during the defence of the Magna Bonum Spaceport that the Imperial Guardsman led by Colonel Brom were gradually losing the battle when the Blood Ravens arrived and forced the Orks back. Lead by Gabriel Angelos, they dealt a series of blows to the Orks.
