The Vitrian Dragoons are Imperial Guard Regiments from Vitria. They were famous during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

Appearance and Weapons

The Vitrians are famous for their Crystal Armour, made of an electric material which reflects light and thus conceals them from their enemies on a well-lit battlefield. They do not use many weapons other than their lasrifles, which they prefer to set on maximum power. Other weapons used are usually plasma weapons of some kind.[Needs Citation]

The Vitrians are dark-skinned, slim but powerful, and well-drilled.[1]

The Vitrians were impressive soldiers. Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt, who served alongside the Vitrians on Fortis Binary, described them as dressed in unusual body armour that glinted like obsidian, with grim, full-face helmets with narrow eye slits, and their weapons were polished and clean. However, he also described them as more rigid and less used to the fluid nature of battle than his own Tanith First troopers.[1]

They are governed by a strict honour code known as the Byhata.

Notable Battles

  • After being saved in battle on Fortis Binary by the intervention of the Tanith First, the Vitrians, led by Colonel Zoren, repaid their debt on Menazoid Epsilon, by attacking the treacherous Jantine Patricians, who had been ordered to slaughter the Ghosts from the rear. By flanking the Patricians and achieving total surprise, the Vitrians, despite suffering heavy casualties, annihilated the 700 or so Patricians.
  • The Vitrian Dragoons also fought in the Solypsis Campaign, alongside the Volpone Bluebloods, against the treason of Governor Gideon.
  • The 331st Vitrian Dragoons disappeared on Donoria Prime under mysterious circumstances after they were ordered there to wipe out an infestation of Donorian Fiends and close a Webway breach.[2]
