Yassilli Sulymanya is a Rogue Trader and scion of the Sulymanya Dynasty whose belief that the Emperor was not a God nearly resulted in her being burned alive as a heretic.

History

Even her Dynasty's influence was not enough to save Yassilli and it took the direct intervention of Lord Commander Guilliman to spare her life and remove the claims against her[1a]. Afterwards, Guilliman proposed that Yassilli join the Logos Historica Verita[1b] and she eagerly took part in its mission to bring forth the true history of the Imperium and not the lies and falsehoods that currently surrounded it. Her views brought her into constant theology arguments with the Militant-Apostolic Mathieu, whose own beliefs ran directly counter to hers. In Guilliman, though, she found a kindred spirit and the Rogue Trader has learned much from the Lord Commander[1a]. Despite the vast differences between them, Yassilli had little fear of the Lord Commander and instinctively knew that though he was a Primarch, Guilliman was still human. She also knew that the lines that weathered his face, showed that the responsibility of Mankind's survival weighed heavily on the Lord Commander. For his part Guilliman saw Yassilli as a valued and highly trusted member of the Logos Historica and granted her a copy of his personal seal, in order to aid the Rogue Trader in her duties. Their relationship had a casual air to it and the Lord Commander let his guard down with her and shared his thoughts that the usually kept to himself. He even allowed Yassilli to call him by his first name, though Guilliman would not allow her to call him by the nickname Robu.[1b]

Near the end of the Plague Wars, Yassilli undertook a Logos Historica mission to the world Talsimar and discovered a[1b] 10,000 years old copy of the traitor Lorgar's Lectitio Divinitatus[1c]. She and her team were then attacked by members of the Inquisition, who sought to prevent Yassilli from leaving with the Divinitatus. In the battle that followed, both sides would suffer losses before, Yassilli and her surviving team were able to escape with the Divinitatus. With her costly discovery in tow, Yassilli then rejoined Guilliman's fleet as they traveled to Parmenio, where the Lord Commander would do battle with the forces of Nurgle and his brother Mortarion. As he was preparing for battle, Guilliman could not meet with Yassilli right away, but tasked her with judging the character of his Militant-Apostolic Mathieu. She did as she was asked and though Yassilli had clashed with Mathieu before, due to their differences concerning the Emperor's God-hood, she later reported to Guilliman, that the Militant-Apostolic was as he seemed and meant the Lord Commander no harm. However she did report that Mathieu sought to convince Guilliman of both his and the Emperor's divinity, but the Lord Commander vowed that he would never let that happen. Afterwards with some trepidation, Yassilli presented Guilliman with the copy of the Lectitio Divinitatus she had discovered, before she embarked on a dangerous mission the Lord Commander had personally given her - hand delivering an encrypted message to Commander Dante, warden of the Imperium Nihilus.[1b]
