Alactus was a Battle Brother of the Blood Angels in late M41.[3]

Alactus was a member of Captain Simeon's 5th Company and was over a century old as of late M41.[1a] This placed him in an older generation than his battle-brothers Rafen and Arkio.[1c]

Part of Veteran Sergeant Koris's Tactical Squad, Alactus was deployed to Cybele along with the rest of the 5th Company. Surviving the first, devastating attack by the Word Bearers, Alactus was shaken by the Chaos Space Marines' use of a psychic weapon that awakened the Red Thirst in many of his battle-brothers.[1b][1c]

Initially cynical, Alactus was impressed by the eloquence and confidence of Brother Arkio, when he rallied the dispirited Blood Angels and proposed a tactical plan that let them turn the tables on the Word Bearers.[1c]

Alactus was further impressed by the prodigies Arkio performed aboard the battle barge Bellus and on Shenlong, handling the Spear of Telesto without effect, and spontaneously growing wings that allowed him to fly. By the end of the Shenlong campaign, the once-cynical Alactus firmly believed that Arkio was the reincarnation of the Blood Angels' primarch, Sanguinius.[1d]

Death

Unfortunately, Alactus's allegiance to Arkio brought him into confrontation with his former brother Rafen, who tried to escape the Bellus to the surface of Sabien, after becoming convinced that Arkio had been tainted by Chaos. Rafen tried to enter the launch bay of the Bellus unnoticed, but Alactus recognized and tried to stop him, forcing Rafen to kill him.[2]
