The Beacon Psykana is the name of an artifact held by the Blood Ravens Chapter and in the custody of the Secret Order of Psykana.

Overview

Created by the Great Father himself, Azariah Vidya, this pearlescent device is essential in the creation of the Summoning of the Exodus. Held in the Sanctorium Arcanum onboard the Litany of Fury, the Beacon Psykana had been built several millennia before and were one of many creations of the Vidya. Like most of those innovations, its true purpose had been lost for centuries and buried by the writings of scholars on the subject. It is known that Azariah Vidya had sealed a number of highly unusual as well as privileged contracts with the Adeptus Astra Telepathica with conditions that required the maintenance of the Beacon. As such, it seemed clear that Terra had a vested interest in the Beacon being maintained.

The use of the Beacon Psykana is deeply linked to the initiation rites of the Order Psykana. As the order makes use of the number of Force weapons from the Psykana Armorium, those psychic relics are often linked deeply to the Beacon itself. Through that psychic condut, the weapons are channeled through the Beacon Psykana itself with the psychic pulses in all the Blood Ravens being amplified as a result. After a certain period, those weapons become psyhically infured with the Beacon and those newly initiated Librarians are often allowed to choose one of these relics to use whereupon they gain a permanent connection to the Beacon Psykana at all times. This means that they can draw upon its power at times of need or the Beacon can draw upon them which is how the Summoning of the Exodus worked.

Purpose?

Father Librarian Jonas Urelie personal belief at one point was that the Beacon was linked to the Astronomicon and worked to spread its symphony throughout the furthest reaches of the galaxy. However, further contemplation and study led him to determine that the Astronomicon rested on the fact that it is stationary and worked by being the centerpiece of the Imperium. As such, it worked by calling forth the Emperor's chosen and guiding them back to himself. Thus, if the Beacon Psykana served as a booster than its constant as well as relentless movement throughout the galaxy would have destroyed the very purpose of the Astronomicon.

Another theory held that the Beacon Psykana serves as a method of finding the lost Fifth Company, the so called "Fated" who had vanished into the Maelstrom three thousand years ago. However, another hole in this line of thinking was the fact that the Fifth Company became lost a thousand years after the death of Vidya and thus would have required a remarkable amount of foresight that it would have been unlikely for him to had planned a way of retrieving them.[1]
