Beastman

Beastmen are a type of abhuman, and have been a part of Imperial Guard armies since the time of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. In second edition, they became exclusively part of Chaos armies. They can still be found in Imperial Guard Armies with the use of the Homo Sapiens Variatus Doctrine, and in the army list for the Lost and the Damned (as an upgrade to ordinary mutants in the codex).
Beastmen are a human subspecies, evolved over millenia of isolation to take on the physical and mental attributes of animals. They appear as human-animal hybrids. They are regarded as subhuman by most normal humans, although they are abhumans rather than normal mutants. They are bestial, aggressive and undisciplined but their savagery in battle is useful.
When they are introduced to the Imperial Cult, they fight to "redeem" themselves for their inhumanity.
