Bijall Calcearius was an apparently human aristocrat and leader of the Calcearius Clan in mid M39, a powerful noble family that once ruled over worlds of the Vidar Sector until a powerful chaos warrior known as the Herald of Fate forced them to flee to the nearby hive world of Praedis Zeta. A descendant of the man who led their flight, Februss Calcearius, Bijall was known to be sly and heavily involved in local politics. However, at some point he began to act strangely, isolate himself from society, and would constantly pore over ancient and forbidden texts. Rumors began to spread of his experiments, which would create hideous biological monstrosities.[1]

As his coloration changed and he began to show signs of being a psyker, the Inquisition's Ordo Xenos led an investigation that saw Bijall eventually flee to the Polis region of Praedis Zeta's Hive Primarus. Not even Adeptus Arbites patrols were able to capture him or end his vile experiments, as it became increasingly clear that one of Bijall Calcearius's great-great-grandparents had been infected by a Tyranid Genestealer and was, in fact, a magus. Word of this eventually reached the Imperial Reavers, whose Fortress-Monastery is also based upon Praedis Zeta. When the Reavers made a move on Bijall, he had already spread the Genestealer infestation across much of the planet, resulting in full-scale rioting. By this point, Bijall had become a hideous beast.[1]
