Captain Catachan is a Catachan Jungle Fighters Captain and a hero of the Imperium.[1]

History

Among his exploits are single-handedly defeating the Hrud invasion of Delphion V, being instrumental in the destruction of the notorious Ork Gargant Morkthunder, and becoming the only documented Human to ever headbutt a Carnifex to death. Captain Catachan is also considered by The Regimental Standard to be the living embodiment of the Astra Militarum's martial prowess. This led the the Captain to be asked to write a guest column, about tips for Guardsmen fighting in the Death World jungles of Krylux V. Catachan noted in the column that he was expected to turn its readers into expert jungle fighters. While he never shied away from a hopeless battle, the Captain was sure most of the Guardsmen reading the column would still die. However, he would then give several detailed tips on how the Guardsmen could avoid that fate. Catachan then ended the column by stating if the Guardsmen survived long enough, he would write another column and share his recipe for heavy flamer-barbecued Catachan Devil.[1]

While The Regimental Standard warned its readers against following some of the Captain's tips[1], it was very popular. Due to Guardsmen asking for him to return, Catachan was asked to write a guide on dangerous Death World flora. His advice was to simply avoid going near them or burn the flora with Promethium before carefully advancing. The Captain would end the column, however, by stating its readers should leave the real jungle fighting to experts.[2]
