"The Dauntless Few" was a term coined by Roboute Guilliman to refer to those four of his primarch brothers whom Guilliman considered most dependable. When devising theoretical scenarios involving elements from one or more Space Marine Legions, Guilliman often favored pairing one or more of these brother's legions with his Ultramarines.[1]

The Dauntless Few were[1]:

  1. Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists;
  2. Sanguinius of the Blood Angels
  3. Leman Russ of the Space Wolves; and
  4. Ferrus Manus of the Iron Hands.

Of the other primarchs, Guilliman admired Jaghatai Khan greatly, but did not consider him reliable or trustworthy. Guilliman often posited that any war fought by the Ultramarines and one of the Dauntless Few's legions together could be won outright, no matter the forces opposed to them.[1]

During the Battle of Calth, when Guilliman heard from Lorgar that Manus, Vulkan, and Corax had all been killed at the Dropsite Massacre at Isstvan V, he lamented that, although he would mourn all three of his lost brothers, he would miss Manus most of all.[1]
