Descent of Angels (Novel)
From Lexicanum
Descent of Angels was written by Mitchel Scanlon, and is the sixth novel in the Horus Heresy Series. A number of authors contribute to the series, but the storyline follows the same characters through Horus' descent into Chaos.
Descent of Angels is actually slightly different in this regard, as it is set almost entirely in the early stages of the Great Crusade and barely touches upon the immediate events of the Horus Heresy itself.
Plot Summary
The world of Caliban is changing. The Great Hunt to destroy the hordes of monstrous beasts that live in the all-encompassing forests is almost complete; the visions of Lion El'Jonson are reaching fruition. Amongst the ranks of Jonson's knightly followers is Zahariel, one of the youngest and newest members of the Order, who despite his callow youth has already impressed; he seems assured of a bright future...except that with the removal of the beasts from the forests, the reason for the knights' existence is itself put into doubt. With the beasts gone, what will become of Zahariel? What will become of all the knights of Caliban?
The answers to these questions arrive from the heavens, as the Emperor of the Imperium and his angels descend to reclaim a lost son, a lost Primarch.
