The Blood Angels series is composed by two volumes written by James Swallow. The first volume Deus Encarmine published in 2005, features Rafen, a Space marine of the Blood Angels, who is torn between his loyalty to his chapter and his brother, as his brother Arkio is proclaimed the reincarnation of Sanguinius. At the same time working in the shadows an Inquisitor and Chaos manipulators try to manipulate the situation to their own advantage. From the Blood Angels homebase comes the ruthless Lord of Death Mephiston sent forth by Chapter master Dante to investigate and to judge, and he isn't known for his sense of mercy.
The second volume Deus Sanguinus continues and finishes the story.
An omnibus of the series which contains both novels, a new short story, appendix and Authors introduction was released in June 2008. The third novel in the series Red Fury will be released in September 2008.
