Erikon Gaius[2] was Captain of the Ultramarines 21st Company during the Battle of Calth, at the time of the Horus Heresy. Known for his heroic actions during the Hadir uprising, he was also known as Gaius the Strong and Gaius the Unflinching[1a].

History

In the aftermath of the Word Bearers' surprise attack on Calth, Gaius rallied his devastated company and counter-attacked the traitors, inflicting several casualties, but not enough to blunt their offence.[1a] Receiving orders from Primarch Guilliman to guard the approach to Numinus City, the capital of Calth, Gaius entrenched his men at the mouth of the railway tunnel.[1b]

Shortly after Nathaniel Garro appeared, on a secret mission from Malcador the Sigillite, the Word Bearers' cultist slaves attacked again, this time assisted by an enormous war machine. Gaius, fighting at the very head of his men, was borne to the ground and impaled through the chest by one of the machine's legs.[1c][1d] Tylos Rubio, one of the Battle brothers under his command, dragged Gaius's body out of danger, and told Garro that the Captain had given his life with nobility.[1d][1e]

Wargear

In battle, Gaius was armed with a Bolt Pistol and a Power Fist.[1c]
