Gorok

Gorok the Shaper was present on Gravalax during the Gravalax Incident in late M41. He appears twice, once at the beginning of the book where he saves Commissar Ciaphas Cain from a mob of pro-Tau humans. He strikes up an acquaintance with Cain, which proves useful when he appears again in the novel.
His second appearance is leading the Kroot portion of a Tau expedition in the tunnels under the capital city. Cain's party, led by Inquisitor Amberley Vail, bumps into the Tau expedition, and when he recognizes Cain he helps to broker a temporary truce with with the Imperials. Unfortunately not before one of the Kroot is killed by a sniper. The two parties continue together and discover the menace hidden in the undercity is in fact a Genestealer cult. When it becomes apparent to Gorok that the Hybrids have discovered the head of the slain Kroot, he reacts to destroy the remains rather than let the Kroot genetics fall into the hands of the Genestealers. However, in opening fire to destroy the head, the party is discovered and Gorok is last seen by Cain being torn apart by a purestrain genestealer.
