Grenade launchers are relatively simple tubular weapons which can launch several different types of grenades using some means such as compressed gas or an electromagnetic charge. The most commonly used types of grenade launched shells are frag and krak. Other types can be loaded, with the exception of more exotic types such as vortex or virus.

Grenade launchers have much greater range than hand-thrown grenades. They can be seen as a smaller, and weaker, version of the missile launcher. The idea with grenade launchers is to lob an explosive grenade at a bunker or other fortified position before charging in to kill the survivors.
