Gulgorahd is a Forge World in the Gulgorahd Protectorate on the edge of Ultima Segmentum. It was used as a Loyalist command centre during the Horus Heresy and Great Scouring from which to strike out at traitor strongholds in the Nostramo Sector.[1]

History

Gulgorahd was a smaller forge world able to withstand the Age of Strife thanks to its determination and resilience, though it was nonetheless battered. When the Great Crusade arrived, Gulgorahd hoped it would be able to rebuild itself to its former glory, but instead found Imperial authorities favoured the nearby Triplex worlds. This inspired a one-sided rivalry with the Triplex that the aforementioned barely noticed.[2]

During the Thramas Crusade of the Horus Heresy the Night Lords expected Gulgorahd to quickly yield as in the manner of their victory at Triplex. However, instead they found a stubborn defence from unexpectedly resilient subterranean fortresses. Motivated by their hatred of the Triplex turncoats, the Knights and Battle Automata of Gulgorahd stubbornly resisted the Night Lords' attack.[2] Later in the Heresy Gulgorahd was used as a regional command post by Chapter Master Arceas Odinathus of the Ultramarines 10th Chapter. It was used to create a buffer between the traitor strongholds in the Nostramo and Thramas Sectors.[1]

The forge world continued to serve as a staging post during the Scouring of the Nostramo Sector, refitting the salvaged Crimson Intent for the Angels Vermillion in its shipyards. The depleted 83rd Memlock Cohort of the Solar Auxilia were stationed for refit at Gulgorahd in 020.M31 when they were enlisted by the Rogue Trader Erasmus Skathe to investigate the ruins of Cairn.[1]
