Sabbat Martyr (Novel)

During Saint Sabbat's original crusade to liberate the sector from Chaos, Herodor was where she rested to cleanse her wounds; as a result the waters of the Civitas became a sacred site, although the planet itself was of little strategic importance.

During the later stages of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, the world was assaulted by a massive Chaos force led by Magister Enok Innokenti, because of the rumour that a reincarnated Saint Sabbat was marshalling Imperial forces on the planet. In the battle which ensued, the Saint did apparently appear to lead the Imperial forces to eventual victory.

During the climatic battle of the Old Hive, she killed Innokenti in single combat and then led a Imperial counterattack supported by surviving PDF, Guard and irregular pilgrim soldiers until the Imperial reinforcements that were recently redeployed from Morlond came to relieve the Imperial forces.

This was a significant victory for the Crusade as a whole as it helped not only stall but demoralise and scatter the Chaos forces led by Innokenti and help create a second front for the Crusade to push into.
