The Honourable Company was a contingent of five Knights from House Terryn who took part in the Imperium's Forlorn Crusade.[1]

They played a vital role in dozens of engagements during the Crusade, from the destruction of a Ork scrap-Hive on Orbalok II, to leading the breakthrough of the Imperishable Line during the Battle of Bluefire. As the Crusade wore on, each of the Knights earned a reputation for honour and courage among the Crusaders, with both Imperial Guardsmen and Space Marine saluting them as they thundered past on their way to the front line of a battle. However, their prowess against the Swords of Khargoth during the conflict known in the Crusade as the War of Ashes drew the attention of the Warband's Warlord, Khargoth, who singled them out for retribution. The Warlord had his Daemonic assassins kill one of the Honourable Company's Knights while he slept and left the body in pieces for the other Knights to find. This vile act enraged the surviving four Knights of the Honourable Company, and they vowed to slay Khargoth and completely destroy his Warband, no matter the cost. However, when the War of Ashes finally ended with the Warband's defeat, Khargoth and his surviving forces escaped into the void. Unwilling to allow them to escape, the Honourable Company chose the path of the Freeblade and immediately began pursuing the Swords of Khargoth, determined to fulfill the vow they had made to their lost comrade.[1]
