House Coldshroud is a loyal Imperial Knight House sworn to the Legio Gryphonicus.[1][3]

History

Formed during the Age of Strife to help safeguard Gryphonne IV's pocket empire of Systems, they are one of the oldest known bonded Knight Houses in the Imperium. During the Great Crusade, the House accompanied the Legio Gryphonicus on it's campaigns while also earning its own glories. During this time they gained a reputation as vanguard fighters for their Titan Legion allies, ranging far ahead of the god-engines in search of foes. They operated rigid command structure that saw each Knight Scion bonded to a specific Titan or maniple. Each warrior of Coldshroud was taught to respect and honor those raised above them, with the Princeps of the Legio Gryphonnicus standing higher than even the Grand Master of the House except in matters of internal workings. The end result of all this saw an unbreakable bond between Coldshroud and the Legio Gryphonicus. However, they rarely took to the field outside of supporting their Titan Legion allies. When such an opportunity came they followed a strict hierarchy that saw composition of its Banners remaining fixed across battlefields rather than adapting to meet changing circumstances. Surprisingly, this rarely proved detrimental in battle.[3]

By the start of the Horus Heresy, House Coldshroud operated some 389 Knights of various patterns (238 of which were Cerastus). During the Heresy the Household fought beside the Legio's Titans stationed on Paramar V in its invasion. In the fierce battle that followed, the Knights and Titans were all destroyed.[1] Knights of the House also took part in the Battle of Beta-Garmon[2].
