House Oroborn is a Traitor Knight House.[1]

History

During the Great Crusade the House was engaged in a centuries-old war with Xenos and nearing extinction. They were saved from death by the Imperium and swore oaths of eternal servitude.[2]

Though once known as eternally loyal, they mysteriously turned traitor during the Horus Heresy. Why precisely is not known, though it is thought to be a general malaise that gripped the House. In time, many of the Household's Knights returned to their home world to purge that which now gripped the House. It was fear that drove their actions for secretly the affliction that had befallen the House was predicted by an ancient prophecy telling of a time of woe where House Oroborn would cease to be. Though such beliefs violated the Imperial Truth it endured within Oroborn and they desperately sought to avoid their fate. Fearful of retribution by the wider Imperium House Oroborn turned inwards, hiding from their duties and the prying eyes of others. It was then that agents of Horus approached and offered them salvation.[2]

Oroborn's treachery was not known for many years, but they were eventually seen fighting besides traitor forces. Ironically the sickness that had driven them to treachery only festered under the traitor banner. Their suits became desecrated and they became known as husks consumed by fear and suffering.[2]

During the Heresy, House Oroborn fought beside Legio Mortis in the Battle of Beta-Garmon[1] and also took part in the Defence of Ryza.[2]
