Israfael was one of the original members of the Dark Angels, of Terran descent and also a Librarian. He recognized Zahariel's latent psyker abilities during a competition between his cousin. He also vouched for Zahariel after he stopped an assassination attempt on the Emperor. Like many other Dark Angels Israfael was sent back to Caliban after the short fighting on Sarosh.
