Kallastin is one of the worlds conquered by Lord Commander Solar Macharius during the Macharian Crusade.[1][2] The planet is a center of production, with massive promethium fields supporting mass industry. In addition, the planet raises Astra Militarum regiments known as "Kallastin Lancers".[3]

History

By the time of the Macharian Crusade, Kallastin was held by Orks[3] as well as human mutants.[1] In one of his most famous victories, Macharius defeated twenty-three billion Orks on Kallastin in a single day; this event was regarded as among the greatest feats of the Imperial military. At the same time, the battle also became legend among Orks, especially Speed Freeks, as one of "greatest scraps ever".[3] In contrast to the Orks, the war against the human mutants -who were fanatically against the Emperor and the Imperium- lasted longer. Macharius deployed the Tallarn Desert Raiders Third Regiment, who proceeded to earn the name 'Tallarn Desert Tigers' and received a commendation from the Inquisition for their cleansing of all mutants.[1] The commander of the regiment was granted rulership of the planet, and their dynasty still reigns as of M42.[3]

However, as centuries passed, mass mutation once again emerged among the industrial workers of the planet, while the Orks (never fully exterminated despite Macharius' victory) gradually grew stronger. These threats only increased amid the Noctis Aeterna.[3]

Military

Besides the Kallastin Lancers Astra Militarum regiments raised on the planet (currently led by Commander Valian Zhang), the planet is defended by the Kallastin Custodia Planetary Defence Forces.[3]
