"We commend our souls to the Emperor. Let the story of our sacrifice burn across history like a shooting star. For death and for glory - for the Ultramarines!"
- Lucian Ventris, Battle for Macragge, 745.M41.
[Needs Citation]

Lucian Ventris was a Veteran Sergeant of the Ultramarines First Company who perished at the Battle for Macragge in 745.M41.[1][2] His descendant, Uriel Ventris, also became an Ultramarine, and is the current Captain of the Fourth Company.

Biography

Like the rest of the First Company, Lucian was detailed to garrison the polar fortresses of Macragge during the Battle, under the command of Captain Saul Invictus. The First Company was wiped out to the last man by the attacking Tyranids, but their sacrifice kept Macragge secure while Chapter Master Marneus Calgar pursued the Tyranid fleet into space and destroyed their Hive Ships.[1][2]

Uriel's descent from a hero of the Ultramarines allowed him to win admission to the prestigious Agiselus Barracks on Macragge, but he won his induction to the Ultramarines, and his subsequent promotions to Sergeant and Captain on his own merit.[1]
