Medusa is the homeworld of the Iron Hands Space Marine Chapter. It is situated dangerously close to the Eye of Terror, within the Segmentum Obscurus.

It is a bleak world locked in perpetual gloom. The sun almost never breaks through the dark, polluted sky and the planet is mostly a range of ice capped mountains interspersed with volcanoes and boiling hot geysers. The planet is unstable and the tectonics plates are constantly shifting, creating and destroying oceans and mountains.

Despite their surroundings, the people flourish and they have been formed into a hardy race. They are constantly battling against the elements and each other for the population are split up into tribes. Each of them fights for control of the prescious resources they need to survive. They have little in the way of structures as the constant earthquakes destroy buildings quickly. As such, the tribes carry everything they need with them as they treck across the surface of the planet. They used to pull great caravans behind them by hand, but now times have changed and catapillar like haulers now traverse the planet in grand processions. They constantly pump out fumes adding to the thick atmosphere.

Karaashi, the Ice Pinnicle, was where Ferrus Manus landed as a child. It is said that the mountain was twice as high as it is now, Ferrus knocking the top off where his pod landed. It rumbles in anticipation of the return of Ferrus and when it stops, the people will know Medusa will finally be content.

Medusa was also the site of a vast battle between the Iron Hands and Iron Warriors during the 10th Black Crusade.

This term is also used for an Imperial heavy mortar tank.
