Medusa is a minor Tyranid Hive Fleet invading, as of 997.M41, from the galactic north-east of the Galaxy, through the area of the Ghoul Stars and close to the path of Hive Fleet Moloch. Originally, the Imperium thought Medusa to be another tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan.^[1]

Notably, Medusa invaded the isolated Ice World of Shadrac in 998.M41 where it was met by Space Wolves, Ultramarines and Imperial Guard of the 10th Slocak garrison fighting side by side to protect the planet. The Space Wolves led by Skold Greypelt put up a last-ditch defence along with the Imperial Guard that managed to wipe out an entire Tyranid swarm in a devastating explosion, but only a handful of Imperial warriors escaped. Ultimately Medusa claimed the planet and forced the Imperial forces to flee.^[1][2][3]
