Mkvenner[Note 1] (sometimes known as Ven[1]) was a Scout-Trooper of the Tanith First and Only regiment.[1][2a]

Biography

Colonel Corbec thought Mkvenner had a similar demeanour to Scout-Sergeant Mkoll, that being dour and terse. As with many Tanith, Mkvenner had a tattoo (in his case, a blue half-moon beneath his right eye).[2a] He was also rumoured to have trained in the old Tanith martial art of cwlwhl - indeed, with Tanith's destruction in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, Mkvenner is the last surviving practitioner of that fighting style.[4a]

In the closing stages of the Siege of Vervunhive, Mkvenner was one of thirty Tanith selected personally by Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt to take part in Operation Heironymo, the mission to infiltrate The Spike and assassinate Heritor Asphodel. During the engagement, Mkvenner was shot in the arm by a Ferrozoican soldier[2b] but survived.[3a]

When the Tanith First was deployed on Hagia, Colonel Corbec was captured by the Infardi during the retaking of the Holy Doctrinopolis. Mkvenner volunteered to accompany Sergeant Gol Kolea on a rescue mission despite the Tanith being ordered to evacuate the city in preparation for an impending armoured assault on the Doctrinopolis by the Eighth Pardus Armoured.[3b]

Later, during the Phantine campaign, Mkvenner was among those Tanith that Gaunt selected for Operation Larisel.[4b] He was assigned to team Larisel 2 under Sergeant Meryn, alongside Troopers Larkin and Kuren and the Skyborne Specialist Kersherin.[4c][4d]
