Novaris is the Homeworld of the Silver Templars Chapter.[1]
Overview
History
A Feudal World of many kingdoms, before Novaris was liberated by the Silver Templars it suffered decades of control at the hands of the Flawless Host. The Slaaneshi warband was envious of the craftmanship of the planets citizens and enslaved them to make thousands of weapons. This dark period of Novaris' history ended when the Indomitus Crusade arrived and the newly christened Silver Templars were given the world as their home after cleansing Novaris of its Chaos taint.[2]
Geography
Novaris is a world of large oceans, soaring mountains, volcanic ranges, vast deserts, and dense mangrove swamps. The Fortress-Monastery of the Silver Templars, Kolossus, is on the peak of a gigantic mountain.[2]
Culture
The Humans of Novaris are a low-technology feudal society. Kingdoms both large and small cover the planet, each ruled by a noble family. Weaponsmithing is seen as the highest art and every Novarian warrior must craft his own weapon as a rite of passage.[3]
The people of Novaris are renowned for their dueling skills, and many kingdoms will settle disputes with a duel between champions. Dueling has become an important part of the Silver Templars culture as a result. Potential recruits are required to attend a grand tournament in the foothills below the Chapter's Fortress-Monastery, Kolossus. There, they duel to the death in the hope of being chosen to ascend the winding mountain path to the fortress.[2]
