An Inquisitor Lord of the Ordo Malleus during the time of the 13th Black Crusade, Nyxos worked closely with the Grey Knights, especially Justicar Alaric.

Biography

It is reported he has been in service to the Emperor's Inquisition for several centuries.[1] He appears as a tired, frail old man, given to wise-cracking. His frame is supported by a servo-assisted exoskeleton, which in fact makes him much stronger and more resilient than humans a fraction of his age.[1]

Valinov

During the 13th Black Crusade in 999.M41, Nyxos oversaw the Ordo Malleus's response to the threat of the Prince of a Thousand Faces, Ghargatuloth and his impending resurrection into realspace. While meeting with the Grand Masters on Titan, Nyxos suggested that Alaric should lead the assault force against the Daemon Prince. He assigned Inquisitor Ligeia to lead the investigative part of the mission, using her unique psychic abilities to draw information out of records.[1]

As Nyxos was observing the execution of Radical Inquisitor Valinov at the Encaladus prison complex on Saturn, Ligeia's personal Death Cult Assassins appeared and aided Valinov's escape. Nyxos would have been mortally wounded in his duel with the culists and Valinov, had it not been for the many redundant organs that kept him alive.[1] Ultimately, he was forced to condemn Ligeia to death, as she had become corrupted after opening her mind to Ghargatuloth, even though doing so had allowed her to find a way to defeat him.[1]

After the daemon was banished to the warp, Nyxos went to the Ordo Malleus's archive and supervised the careful inscription of the daemon's True Name into the Codicium Aeternum.[1]

Dark Adeptus

After the events on Volcanis Ultor, Nyxos took his retinue to investigate the appearance of a planet that appeared from the warp that had been missing for one hundred years. As it turned out the planet was a missing forge world, Chaeronia, and Nyxos was forced to politically grapple with the Mechanicus to get a force down and investigate the events on the planet while he stayed with the small fleet in orbit.[2]

The fleet was attacked by a Chaos fleet led by Urkrathos, Chosen of Abaddon. Once again it was the assistance of his many augmentations that kept him alive while the ship he was on depressurized.[2] As before, he was primarily responsible for debriefing Alaric and compiling his findings into a report for the leadership of the Inquisition.[2]

Lost Friends

After believing that Alaric was lost on Sarthis Marjoris he later received a communication from him on the ex-Pleasure world Belsimar and recovered him back into the Imperial fold. Nyxos made light to Alaric that he could assist him in going back to the Grey Knights, but he also hinted that a Space Marine with imagination like his could serve the Inquisition so much more as something else and left it at that.[3]

Retinue

As an Inquisitor, Nyxos has the power to commandeer anyone or anything to complete his holy duty to the Golden Throne. Throughout his known history he has requested the assistance of the Grey Knights, the Cruiser Tribunicia, the explorator Mechanicus ship Exemplar and regiments of Imperial Guard. His only permanent known retinue would be an ex-naval cadet Hawkespur who is a young starched uniform woman who is a crack shot with her pistol. She is currently enlisted to Nyxos as his interrogator.[Needs Citation]
