Periremunda's plateaus are climatically diverse, ranging from temperate zones to tundra to jungle. Roughly eighteen thousand of them are inhabited. Principia Urbi, the capital, occupies the entirety of the surface of Principia Mons, one of the temperate plateaus.[1b]

Notable Locations

  • Principa Urbi/Principa Mons — The planetary capital of Periremunda.[1b]. During the Battle for Periremunda, at least two Guard regiments were stationed here[1c].
  • Aceralbaterra — A plateau located near the equator; it is overgrown with vegetation to the point where it was described as a "Catachan grotto." It was mainly used as a site for grazing, as it is near-impossible to grow anything there[1d]. Its principal settlement is Konnandoil, a fair sized town that was directly targeted during the Tyranid invasion[1e].
  • Hoarfell — One of the highest plateaux on Periremunda, it is described as having a near-constant cloud cover and snowing most of the time. Its pricipal city is Darien, which has the most major spaceport on Periremunda. The Valhallan 597th were billeted there during the Tyranid invasion[1f][1g].
  • Hell's Edge — A mining colony near the equatorial lava flows, it was described as having a population of 237, but they all but vanished when a Tyranid advance swarm landed there[1h].
