The Raven Guard Chaplain Cordae, wearing the bones of a Roc[2]

Rocs are intelligent ferocious birds, that are larger than a man and they are a sacred animal to the Raven Guard Chapter.[1]

Description

They dwell on Kiavahr's Diagothian Mountains and the Raven Guard's Chaplains believe adorning a Roc's bones on their power armor, after killing one in a ritualized hunt, allows them to carry the bird's spirit with them into combat. They also believe, that doing so will ensure the Chaplains can properly guide their Battle Brothers into battle. Not many Chaplains survive the ritual hunt to claim a Roc's bones, however, as it involves several restrictions. The first involves climbing the deadly Diagothian Mountains dressed only in a black-feathered loincloth – which is the ceremonial attire of the ritual hunt — and the second is slaying a Roc with only their bare hands. A Chaplain who completes the hunt, then has to climb back down the Mountains with the Roc's body and travel to the Raven Guard's Ravenspire. Only after doing so, will a Chaplain be allowed to begin placing the Roc's bones on their power armor.[1]
