Sentor Jool was the Firstblade of the Knights of Blood, when they aided Baal as it faced an invasion by Hive Fleet Leviathan.

Biography

By order of the Blood Angels' Chapter Master, Dante, the Knights of Blood were sent to defend Baal Primus - a task they did not object to, as the Flesh Tearers were also defending the moon. This was because the Knights of Blood felt a kindred spirit in the Flesh Tearers, as their two Chapters bore the strongest affliction for the Red Thirst and Black Rage. Sentor personally viewed the Flesh Tearers' Chapter Master, Gabriel Seth, as a triumphant figure of hope for the Sons of Sanguinius, because he successfully fought to keep their bloodline's curses from damning or destroying his Chapter.[1a] Seth, however, refused to fight beside Sentor's Chapter, due to the Knights of Blood's well known habit of wantonly killing humans, to feed on their blood. In the eyes of their brethren Chapters, the Knights of Blood had damned themselves by viewing humans as merely sheep to be devoured whenever they needed to keep the Red Thirst and Black Rage at bay. Santor did not deny this, but he explained that the Knights of Blood shared their Primarch's curse of foresight and their visions showed them fighting beside the Flesh Tearers. They would not budge from this, no matter what objections Seth had. They nearly came to blows then, but Seth ultimately relented, as it would be foolhardy for the two Chapters to fight each other as Leviathan bore down on them. However, Seth firmly stated that while the Knights of Blood may fight near the Flesh Tearers, their Chapters would never fight together against the Hive Fleet. Sentor reluctantly agreed and the two left to ready their Chapters for war.[1a]

As Levithan invaded Baal Primus, Seth's declaration held true, until the Flesh Tearer determined that the Hive Fleet would soon claim the moon they had fought to save. With there being nothing their dwindling forces could do to defeat the Hive Fleet, Seth fought to Sentor's side and said their Chapters should aid in defending Baal from being consumed as well. Sentor at first resisted the idea, as he was angered by the fact that Seth had refused to allow their forces to fight together, but he quickly agreed and the remains of the two Chapters fought their way to an extraction point.[1b] However, just as Thunderhawks neared their position, the Bloodthirster Ka'Bandha appeared from the Warp and sent a shockwave of rage across Baal Primus's surface. This proved to be too much for the Knights of Blood, who had been struggling to keep their curses at bay during the battle, and as Daemons of Khorne fought Tyranids around them, Sentor told Seth his Chapter could not leave. The Chapter Master then removed his helmet and showed Seth that he had been right, the Knights of Blood were truly damned. They had thought that, by freely feeding on blood, they would keep their curses in check, but in truth this accelerated their fall and mutated their appearances. The Knights of Blood now appeared similar to those bestial figures the Blood Angels kept imprisoned within the Tower of Amareo and only blood kept the Black Rage from claiming them. Because of this, they could not risk fighting beside other Chapters, for fear of their appearances being discovered. In truth, that was why Sentor had wanted to fight beside the Flesh Tearers, as they alone would understand his Chapter's constant struggle against their curses.[1c]

All that was now moot though, as with Ka'Bandha's appearance the Knights of Blood had fallen fully to the Red Thirst and Black Rage, and were no longer capable of hiding their secret shame. Sentor was among those who were barely able to control themselves, but he knew that if the other Sons of Sanguinius saw his Chapter now, the Knights of Blood would be hunted down and destroyed. He would not allow that to happen, nor would he allow Ka'Bandha to corrupt his Chapter into serving Khorne. Instead, the remaining Knights of Blood would sacrifice themselves in penitence for their actions and unleash their holy fury upon the approaching Daemons and Tyranids. Before they went to their deaths, Sentor asked Seth to remember them and to always strive to prevent the Flesh Tearers from damning themselves like his Chapter did. With that, Sentor then led the Knights of Blood in attacking their foes and by doing so, they allowed the Flesh Tearers still remaining in the extraction point, to escape into awaiting Thunderhawks.[1c] As the Flesh Tearers reached Baal Primus's orbit, Sentor fought his way to Ka'Bandha and challenged the Bloodthirster that had doomed his Chapter. The Greater Daemon greeted Sentor and said that if the Chapter Master joined its forces, he would be given a lifetime of battle that would quench his thirst for blood. Sentor vehemently refused and then let loose a roar as he attacked the Bloodthirster, but he was no match for Ka'Bandha and was killed.[1c]
