The Siege of Hypnoth was a siege by the Necrons under Imotekh the Stormlord of the Imperial Forge World of Hypnoth from roughly 910-911.M41.[1]

Overview

Encountering unexpectedly stiff and resolute resistance from Imperial Guard and Space Marine forces on Hypnoth, Imotekh's siege ground on for many months. However encouraged by the prophecies of the Astromancer Orikan the Diviner, Imotekh finally broke the stalemate by launching a series of attacks on Hypnoth's supply worlds, Praedis-Zeta and Nyx.[1]

These two raids were successful, the worlds were laid to waste and their vital supply lines destroyed or claimed by the Necron forces. However, an unforeseen Tyranid infestation on Nyx wreaked havoc among the Necron forces and threatened the entire Necron siege. Fortunately for the Sautekh Dynasty, Imotekh managed to weave a strategy that manipulated the Tyranid swarm into exhausting itself against the Imperial defenders. With both sides now distracted, Imotekh was able to relieve his forces and plan for the final blow.[1]

In 911.M41, Sautekh Crypteks succeeded in introducing a mechanophage into the defense systems of Hypnoth, reducing its formidable armored bastions into useless shells. Despite the valour displayed by the Flesh Tearers and Iron Hands, Hypnoth fell to Imotekh within days.[1]
