http://wh40k.lexicanum.de/wiki/Chronologie_des_Warhammer_40.000_Universums You may want to adapt your dates to the template above --Inquisitor S. 19:12, 30 Jul 2005 (CEST)

I am thinking of taking this on, to convert it to the above version, as i will soon be needing something fairly mindless to do as university work is starting...what fun. So shall i go ahead and convert it to the above and then delete all the pages (bearing in mind this will create a lot of broken links). --Jonru 10:25, 3 Oct 2005 (CEST)

Hey guys - I wondered if you could help me out with something. Am I to assume that the 'current' year in the Warhammer 40,000 universe is 007.M42?

Thanks for you help -- newsdeskdan 10.21 March 14 2007 (GMT)

That depends upon the novel, or the codex you are reading. If you look closely at the novels of Ciaphas Cain (by the way I like these novels a lot; Ciaphas Cain most bravest hero of the Imperium :) you will realize by the notes of Inquisitor Amberley that she reviewed the book, written by Ciaphas himself at 993M41, shortly before the 13th Crusade, sometime after 005.M42 (the book was published at that date only to be confiscated by the Inquisition for it contained too much restricted knowledge). However major events have not appeared anywhere in the Codex's and the late Eye of Terror campaign of Games Workshop somewhat ended around 999M41. Irulan 15:36, 14 March 2007 (CET)

Sources Crusade

I think it is well past time that we set up some form of crusade against ignorance on this site. By this I mean filling in sources throughout the lexicanum, but also directing the work of people into a certain area. For example, I would propose that we concentrate as much as possible on one area, in this case the timeline, to get it up to the best standards possible. I have a wide range of sources available and I'm sure you do to and we should use these to the best of our ability. To this end, I propose the Timeline Crusade, first crusade of the Lexicanum.

This means that if you agree to participate you would put your efforts into sorting the timeline over other things. I'm up for this and I'm guessing Irulan will be as well, so anyone else please post your thoughts here, both of whether you want to join this or how we should go about it.

Thanks--Jonru 13:08, 12 June 2007 (CEST)

I'll help however i can. I have about 50 BL novels. Most arent big on dates, but the Eisenhhorn Trilogy is, and could be used for refrences for other events too. ---Psyco 13:15, 12 June 2007 (CEST)

I think a directed effort at one area is a great idea and would be happy to help contribute if I can. I'm not certain of a methodical way of doing things, somehow 'assigning' particular source texts to various contributers feels slightly impractical, although I'm happy to go along with such a method. Perhaps once we have a fixed group of contributers to the project we could 'claim' a number of texts we have in our personal possesions?--Mob 13:21, 12 June 2007 (CEST)

Lord General Psyco and his 2nd Inperial Army have declared that about 15 entries have fallen into order. There were few casualties(I stubbed my toe getting a soda form the fridge) and little resistence.

Sorry, I got into the crusade feeling...lol. ---Psyco 13:46, 15 June 2007 (CEST)

what ever happen to ftl drives you'd think that by the forth millenium that humanity would have had complete control over the galaxy but thats just thinking out loud [emperorspartan]

Oh my, where to start... Please have a look at this and maybe somebody would be interested to help adapt the timeline here to a decent standard? --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 13:44, 6 March 2012 (CET)

Point of Reference for the Heresy?

I haven't been able to find any work that gives a concrete date for any events during the Great Crusade or the Horus Heresy. I've been collating events simply by what else they reference. Is there any source that gives an actual year of an event that I can use as a point of reference for everything else? DarkSoldier 11:58, 1 May 2013 (CEST)

Very good question. I've had the same problem for a while.
Dark Heresy Timeline, page 1: early M31
Codex CSM, 6th, page 8: M31; page 22: Great Crusade circa M31, Horus Heresy M31
Realm ofChaos Slavesto Darkness, page 240: M31
Rulebook 5th, page 124: M31
--DetlefK 12:38, 1 May 2013 (CEST)

Every source agrees on M31 for the Heresy, but is there a year? The page for M31 currently puts the Battle of Sixty-Three Nineteen at 012.M31, which I've been using as a zero date despite no source I'm aware of giving that date. DarkSoldier 02:54, 2 May 2013 (CEST)

I have found a Heresy-era source that gives a concrete date: at the end of The Underworld War, a message is received and dated 7.854.007.M31 that regards the Gazlak Campaign, Horus's wild goose chase for Guilliman. If there are no objections, I will re-date every Heresy-era event around this concrete zero date. DarkSoldier 10:31, 12 May 2013 (CEST)

Please slow down.
First: Please provide an exact source on this discussion-page.
Second: If you want to re-date those events you will have to provide several sources: First a reference-point point and second a source (or sources) stating how far the event is away from said reference-point. And this is where it gets tricky: For example, Horus Rising begins in the 202nd or 203rd year of the Grand Crusade. From there, you would have to skim the novel for clues how much time they spent doing what. And not all events have a date attached to them, so you would have to look for other events that happened shortly before or after. I tried this for a while, but gave up. It did cost too much time. I can provide you with my notes if you want to. --DetlefK 13:53, 12 May 2013 (CEST)

The source is question is The Underworld War from Mark of Calth, specifically the short message at the end of the story. I infer from its context that the message was sent shortly after the Word Bearers' sneak attack.

I have just started adding commented-out references from the source text that tell when events happened relative to another. I'll go back through my material and find more. I would appreciate having your notes to help me. Before I make any substantial changes to the timeline, I'll do them in the sandbox first. DarkSoldier 00:16, 13 May 2013 (CEST)

I've gone through Horus Rising, False Gods, and Galaxy in Flames for time stamps. Starting at the Battle of 63-19, eighteen weeks pass until the end of the Whisperheads, twelve weeks of travel to Murder, a six-month (24-week) campaign is waged against the megarachnids, an indeterminate amount of time is spent with the interex, three weeks are spent on Davin (including travel and nine days for Horus in the Serpent Lodge), sixteen weeks go by until the Auretian Technocracy war, which ends after ten months (forty weeks) and at least six days. From the beginning of Horus Rising to the end of False Gods, at least 798 days (2.2 years) pass. DarkSoldier 08:40, 16 May 2013 (CEST)

I have the same, I think. I have about five more time-stamps from Flight of the Eisenstein and Mechanicum. will post them later. --DetlefK 11:15, 16 May 2013 (CEST)
Flight of the Eisenstein: Chapter 1: Death Guard vs. Jorgall was during or after the war on Murder
Mechanicum: Part 1 Chapter 1: The Furious Abyss was still in construction shortly before the battle of Isstvan III
Part 1 Chapter 3: The novel Mechanicum happens about 1 year after the events on Laeran (according to Fulgrim, the war on Laeran lasted about a month)
Part 1 Chapter 3: Dalia worked on the Theta-Wave Enhancer for 7 days
opening of the Vaults of Moravec and test of the Akashic Reader happened at the same time
Part 2 Chapter 2: about one week later, Dalia awakes from coma and Death of Innocence
Part 2 Chapter 3: at least 3 days after DoI: Dalia goes on her quest for the dragon
Part 2 Chapter 6: one-and-a-half days later they pass through the tunnel near Mondus Gamma --DetlefK 12:10, 16 May 2013 (CEST)

I have put my revised M31 timeline in the Lexicanum:Immaterium. DarkSoldier 13:37, 20 May 2013 (CEST)
