The Taninim Crusades were a military campaign launched by the Imperium in the aftermath of the Occlusiad War. They lasted from 678-714.M37.[1]

History

The Imperium sought to regain control over several lost regions located in the North-Western fringe. Eleven Space Marine Chapters were dispatched to the Taninim Expanse to destroy any threats that might be stirring there. Some of the Chapters sent to the region never returned and one, the Storm Callers, fell into civil war. However, the Astral Claws gained great honour for their deeds in the Expanse.[1]

Their first campaign was the reclamation of the Naraka Sub-sector, which for nearly a century had been controlled by the Ork Warboss Rukka Manyteef and his Bad Moon Sky-Killas. The Astral Claws destroyed the Ork tanka-mobs on Gulag-VI, cut off the Orks' supplies of fuel and slaughtered the Glittanob bully-boyz on Midrash.[1]

Following that victory the Astral Claws spent decades beyond the Imperium's reach in the Taninim Expanse, fighting many battles. They destroyed the Outcast Eldar citadel-station of Cynthral, battled the Xenarchs on Alaks'tar and recovered the lost Explorator Ark Principia Gravis - which they returned to Cypra Mundi to great acclaim. When the Astral Claws returned to the Imperium they were awarded a Sceptre of Victory and a temple in their honour on the Shrine World of Pycentos (although that has now been deconsecrated following the events of the Badab War).[1]
