The Yarant Wars were a series of battles between the Eldar and the forces of Chaos in the Yarant System[1].

Overview

After a month of grueling conflict between the two forces, the prophetic Eldar Farseers determined the location of the Death Guard's headquarters, which composed a majority of the Chaos force, on the planet Yarant IV. If the Eldar could destroy the Death Guard's command structure, the Faseers believed it would disrupt the Chaos forces throughout the whole system.[1]

An Eldar strike force soon made planetfall on Yarant IV and scouted the location of the Death Guard's headquarters, where it was found in the midst of a morass of rotting jungles and swamps near the Timan Valley. Unfortunately, the headquarters was shielded against orbital bombardment and the Death Guard's garrisons, used to defend it, were entrenched in the festering jungles; which could easily delay a conventional force long enough for the Chaos Space Marines to bring in reinforcements. To overcome these obstacles the Eldar launched a series of diversionary raids in the Timan Valley to distract the Death Guard, while a raiding force composed of Vypers, Jetbikes and Revenant Titans, used because they could quickly navigate their way through the jungle, moved towards their headquarters.[1]

Once this force was in position, the rest of the Eldar strike force launched a full scale attack on the Timan Valley, to draw off the Death Guards' reserves. An hour later, once the Death Guard had responded to the attack, the hidden Eldar raiding force moved forward and wiped out the Death Guard's outposts and attacked the undermanned headquarters. Though the Death Guard remaining in the garrisons fought with fanatical determination, they were killed by the raiding force and their command bunker was destroyed with minimal loss to the Eldar. After destroying the Death Guard's command structure and leadership, the raiding force continued to hunt and kill any survivors in the headquarters; until Death Guard reinforcements, finally forced them to retreat into the jungle. A week after the lighting raid, the servants of Chaos were pushed off Yarant IV altogether, by the Eldar's forces. With their command structure gone, the Death Guard were left leaderless and the forces of Chaos were defeated by the Eldar throughout the Yarant System, freeing it from their corruption.[1]
