The Turning of the Golden Apostles was a campaign of the Great Crusade.[1]

Overview

The war began when the Imperium attempted to one of the strategically important Golden Apostles star systems. The Human-Xenos alliance which ruled the region refused the Imperial demand for compliance. Conquering the system by force proved difficult due to the Golden Apostles's use of the systems efficient warp routes to bring reinforcements. Magnus, Primarch of the Thousand Sons, declared that he would bring defeat the Golden Apostles.[1]

The Thousand Sons attacked with forces of Five Circles drawn from three Fellowships. Striking in the middle of the Golden Apostles, the small Imperial force initially struggled against the Human-Xenos alliance's formidable fleet. Eventually, the first system fell, and, 81 days later, the Thousand Sons launched an assault on the second. However, this time the enemy fleet that arrived to reinforce their comrades ran right into a Thousand Sons ambush for Magnus had foreseen their plan. With their fleet broken, the rest of the Golden Apostles fell in quick order.[1]
