Tyran was an Imperial world to the galactic south east of Ultramar, in the Eastern Fringe, Ultima Segmentum. It was an Ocean World, with 80% of the planet covered in water. Some deemed the planet a Death World, due to its extremely dangerous fauna. It was also an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator Base. It was little more than an outpost which based a few hundred Adepts and Explorators.
Tyran is notable as being the first Imperial world to be attacked and consumed by the Tyranids. From Tyran the newly encountered aliens gained their name. All that reached the Imperium was a short and garbled message from the world's only astropath, a dire warning of doom. Unfortunately, before help could arrive, it had already been consumed by Hive Fleet Behemoth, turning it into a Dead World.
