The Urdeshi Storm-Troops of the Imperial Guard are an elite formation mainly consisting of heavy infantry. They are principally known for their actions during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, in which they fought as both part of the wider Crusade effort and as a liberation force on their own homeworld.
Recruitment & Training
A principal planet of the Sabbat Sector, Urdesh is a major Forgeworld. Falling victim to Chaos forces during the earlier stages of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, it spent several years under the yoke of the archenemy, finally being freed during 771.M41. The forces employed during this campaign included it's native Imperial Guard regiments, the Urdeshi Storm-Troops.
A world with a long history of service in the Guard, the Urdeshi Storm-Troops existed for over 1,073 years of continuous service, long enough to ensure their name was woven in silver thread onto on of the thousand honour-pennants that hang next to the Golden Throne on Terra. At the time of the interregnum there were at least 8 regiments of Urdeshi in service; big, proud men, the Urdeshi Storm-Troops were valiant fighters, especially during their years of dispossession. Well-equipped thanks to their Forgeworld origin, it is unknown if they had any formal ties to the Adeptus Mechanicus. As their name implies, the Urdeshi Storm-Troops were professional and dedicated shock-assault soldiers. Their officer corps was drawn from a cadet-school designed for that purpose.
Battle Style
The Urdeshi favour direct assault and are trained in all the major ways in which to achieve this, including acting as Drop Troops and operating with close armoured support. They favour frontal spear-thrusts directly into the heart of the enemy, but use conventional breach, fire and manouever tactics.
Appearance & Uniform
The Urdeshi 7th wore puzzle-camo uniforms of contrasting black and white patterns.
Weapons & Equipment
A surfeit of projectile weaponry appears to exist within the Urdeshi Regiments, with .50 cal autocannons being a common heavy support weapon.
